Automobile Beaver - Beaver Automobile
Our Mission is to build the prototype of a road-ready
automobile including a radial engine and a Continuously Variable Power Split
Transmission (CVPST) to prove the performances and safety features of the new
automobile having an all-aluminium unibody chassis. The Beaver is ready for the
future application of pure electric drives (BEV), when battery technology has
attained an acceptable level of performance and endurance.
The Radial engine, CVPST and chassis may be licensed independently. For instance
the radial engine is lightweight and may be used in aeronautic applications. It
can also be scaled up to drive trucks, buses, boats and other vehicles
benefiting from the perfect balance of the engine. The CVPST may be inserted in
existing automobiles providing the advantages of a power-split CVT.
CKE Technologies' mission is to build a four passenger road-ready automobile
that averages better than 100 mpg. The "Beaver" automobile prototype includes a
radial engine and a Continuously Variable Power Split Transmission (CVPST) in an
all-aluminum unibody chassis that will be used to prove the performance and
safety features of this new concept. The Beaver is designed to be BEV-ready
(pure electric drive), once battery technology has attained an acceptable level
of performance and endurance. According to CKE, the gain in performance is due
to a holistic approach to automobile efficiency. The team states the curb weight
of their vehicle is only 450 kg and super-aerodynamic body has a Cd=0.17 or
less. CKE Technologies intends to use The Beaver automobile concept as a means
to prove that by managing the weight, aerodynamics and using a light and
efficient powertrain, an inexpensive 100+ mpg car is possible immediately,
without waiting for any further technological breakthroughs.
Depuis les dix-sept dernières années,
CKE a développé un nouveau concept de moteur en étoile avec un nouveau mécanisme
interne. Une transmission continûment variable à puissance partagée (CVPST) a
également été développée, et plus récemment, une carosserie monocoque tout en
aluminimum à quatre passagers, ayant un coefficient de traînée très bas (Cx=0.16-0.17).
Monsieur Mark Kmicikiewicz et Monsieur Ben Cowan, maintenant décédé, ont
développé le projet à son état actuel. CKE a fabriqué un prototype du moteur qui
peut fonctionner à des fins de démonstration de même qu’un modèle fonctionnel
réduit de la transmission CVPST. Les dessins d’ingénierie des diverses
composantes incluant le châssis et la carrosserie sont également disponibles en
plus de la plupart des calculs par ordinateur. C’est Monsieur Ben Cowan,
maintenant décédé, qui a financé le projet à ses débuts.
